Early Life
Although GoodGirl LA’s passion of music is innate, her surroundings had an impact on how she developed as an artist.
She was born in Ajegunle to Mr. and Mrs. Ekumah’s family. The world welcomed her on February 20, 1997. She has three siblings and is the Ekumah’s second child.
She is from the South-South region and is a native of Cross River State, despite having been raised in Lagos. Euphemia, an Ijaw woman, found her musical skill at a young age and developed friendships with other music lovers in Ajegunle during her adolescence.
GoodGirl LA developed her love of hip-hop and Afrobeats while growing up by listening to artists like D’Banj, 2Baba, Faze, P-Square, Wande Coal, Sasha, and Olu Maintain. She was one of the choir’s lead singers and an active member of her church. She developed her musical style and sound throughout her time in the choir.
She competed in several music and talent competitions across the nation in the early stages of her career, aspirating to greatness like other musicians. This also applies to the well-liked reality program Nigerian Idol.
Education
GoodGirl LA graduated from Kings Foundation Primary School with her First School Leaving Certificate. She enrolled at Hopebay College for her high school education to enhance her studies.
After six years of studies, she was awarded the institution’s West African School Certificate.
She was admitted to the University of Calabar to pursue a nursing degree but left after just one year at the age of 19.
She obtained a degree in music theory while attending the MUSON School of Music in Lagos.
Career
She created the stage name GoodGirl LA before turning professional as a musician.
Although she dropped her first single in 2015, she would go on to become famous after releasing the hit tune Faraway in 2018.
For several months, the song received a ton of playing on radio and television stations around the nation. and supported her in maintaining her status as one of the top Afro-pop singers. She released another single, Bless Me, to carry on with her string of successes.
GoodGirl LA’s debut EP, LA Confidential, was eventually published after keeping her admirers waiting for months. Music critics gave the project a positive review and thought it was a solid delivery for a first artist. Within months of its publication, the eight-track album received thousands of streams, gaining LA more supporters. The EP was independently released under the GoodGirl LA Entertainment banner.
Talo Lomo, Jeje, and Current were just a few of the tunes that GoodGirl LA released in 2020 to excite her admirers.
When she released the song Bando in February 2021, she gave the world further proof that she was the Queen of the Afro-fusion sound. The song has received thousands of listens and downloads worldwide in the short time since its debut. Currently, the single is one of the ten most popular Afro-fusion songs on the continent. The song’s music video was made available in March 2021.
A guest performer on Vector’s popular song, Early Momo, was GoodGirl LA. She has accepted numerous requests to perform at events and concerts throughout Nigeria and West Africa while adhering to her own distinct musical style.

2019 was a year of great success for GoodGirl LA as she earned her first national nomination at the 12th Headies Music Awards. She was nominated under the Best Vocal Performance category. The award helped to shine more spotlight on her work as an artist.
However, it was her colleague, Teni Apata, who eventually won the award.
